PCYM is an exciting and challenging six month course that will equip you for working with both children and young people. The PCYM is a YWAM second level school, and includes both lecture and outreach phases.

The aim of the course is to equip and release leaders who will impact young people who will in turn impact many more. Our vision is to see young people not only develop a solid life long relationship with God, but to see them mobilised into missions and careers of purpose and fulfillment.

PCYM is for people who are called to serve young people. It is ideal for those who want to reach, disciple, help and release children and youth into their destiny. More specifically, PCYM is for those who want to develop their gifts, deepen their understanding of children and young people, and gain experience working with children and youth.

God’s desire is for all young people to discover their destiny and fulfill their potential in Him – to have a hope and a future. His heart’s desire is to release young people of all nations to go to the ends of the earth to make a difference and to help complete the Great Commission.

We believe that children and young people are a powerful element of the Kingdom of God. Ministry in nearly any area will involve engaging children and young people. Our heart for this school is to see capable, committed people become involved with effective and dynamic ministry to children, families and young people. Specifically, we want to see the pioneering and multiplication of ministry in the Pacific and Asia region, which is why our outreach will be geared toward this region.

lecture phase

During the Lecture Phase of the course, you will examine the issues and challenges of ministering to today’s youth culture and at-risk children within a Biblical framework. It will lay foundations in your life and help you to understand the principles behind significant aspects of children and youth ministry.

Lectures will include topics such as:

  • Human development
  • Apostolic endeavor, leadership, teamwork & communication
  • Biblical worldview and missions
  • Mercy ministry with children and young people
  • Prayer and worship with children and young people
  • Evangelism to and with children and young people
  • Planning, curriculum & projects
  • Ministry skills & creativity
  • Youth culture

outreach phase

The outreach will involve running children and youth ministry seminars, and helping with children and youth ministry. Our likely outreach locations will be locally within Australia, in Papua New Guinea, in the pacific – most likely to the Solomon Islands, and in South East Asia.
